With massive puddles forming every where on the field even the simplest pass became nearly impossible, and with a 4-1 lead the final whistle couldn’t come soon enough for the victorious Heath players to dry off and savor their hard fought victory, 4-1 Black HeathĬategories: Uncategorized. The game and the field would turn into a shambles as the skies opened up and a massive down pour would see the players attempt to play in the incredibly tough conditions for the last 25 minutes of the game. But it would be the stellar defense that would once again seal the victory as all attempts to claw back into the game by the Tigers were thwarted by Trent, Chris, Matt, and Maura, with only the random long range shot getting through on net. With rain clouds looming and no subs on the bench the Heath went out to score early to take control of the game and protect a lead, and that’s exactly what they did with Wes George and Brian Wilcock leading the way up top. The coed Black Heath would see action finally after having the holiday weekend off, and hoping to bounce back after their first loss they would run into a Tigers team balanced with youth and experience. But the ending of games has been the Heaths downfall in the past and so it was feared again as Dalsa were generating some plum chances on the counter attack as the end came near, but tonight the Heath would hold strong and finally get the insurance they needed after another cross into the box from Wilcock would lead to an easy tap in, 3-1 Black Heath, final. The Heath would attack the opposition from all sides, and mid way through the half a cross from Brian Wilcock couldn’t be handled by the keeper which left some easy mopping up to do in the box to make it 2-1. The game was hard fought with some controversial challenges going unpunished inside the Dalsa box that left the Heath wondering if things would ever go their way, but an equalizer before the half would lift their spirits and see them ready to take the lead in the second half. The following Thursday would give them a chance to show what they had learned after going down 1-0 early against last place TeleDyne Dalsa. The shocking loss was a lesson learned to not underestimate their opponents in this league as it is filled with quality from top to bottom. While the Heath would pour on the offense and control the ball for the rest of the game they could not burst the ole onion bag as the post, cross bar, and goalies hands took a beating instead. Looking back on the game play and the number of chances you would assume that the final score of 3-0 would favour the Heath, but you would be mistaken because after 20 minutes of game play Tri City had taken three shots and capitalized on all three of them. After their bitter tie to Phoenix the Black Heath men were hoping for a win against the Tri City Thunder, unfortunately it was not meant to be.
